Nothing in the app — including the AI Advisor, Health Score, daily tips, challenges, or any feedback we provide — constitutes financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. We help you understand your spending and build habits, but decisions about your money are yours alone. If you need personalized financial advice, please consult a licensed professional.
AI Advisor
Our AI Advisor is a conversational assistant powered by Anthropic's Claude. It analyzes your transactions and gives general guidance based on patterns it sees in your data. The AI can be wrong. It can misclassify spending. It can suggest things that don't apply to your specific situation. Always verify AI-generated insights with your own judgment or a qualified human advisor before acting on them. We log AI conversations for safety and quality monitoring; we do not use them to train any model.
Bank Connections (Plaid)
When you connect a bank account, we use Plaid — the same service used by Venmo, Robinhood, Coinbase, and most modern fintech apps. Plaid handles the bank login. We never see, store, or have access to your bank credentials. We receive read-only transaction and balance data. We cannot move money. We cannot make payments. We cannot withdraw funds. You can disconnect any account at any time from Settings → Linked Accounts.
Wallet Credits & Cashouts
BudgetBrew may award wallet credits for streaks, referrals, challenges, or promotional events. Wallet credits are a feature of the app, not currency, and have no cash value until you cash them out via PayPal at the documented thresholds. If you cash out $600 or more in a single calendar year, U.S. tax law requires us to issue you a 1099-NEC. We may collect your taxpayer information (W-9) before processing cashouts that approach this threshold. Wallet credits expire if your account is inactive for 12 consecutive months. Wallet credit balances are not transferable between accounts.
Subscriptions
BudgetBrew Premium is billed monthly ($8/mo) or annually ($80/yr) through Stripe. Free trials granted via /invite or promotional coupons are 90 days, no credit card required. After the trial, you must add a payment method to keep Plus features. We never charge you during a trial. Subscriptions auto-renew until canceled. Cancel anytime from Settings → Manage Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you keep Plus access through that date. Refunds are issued at our discretion for billing errors but not for unused time.
Data & Privacy
We collect what we need to make BudgetBrew work: your email, your financial data via Plaid, and your interactions with the app. We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with advertisers. We do share data with the third-party services that power the app — Stripe (payments), Plaid (bank connections), Resend (email), Anthropic (AI Advisor), Sentry (error monitoring), Vercel (hosting), Neon (database).
